Resume Writing
One of the things I hear most is: “I wear a lot of hats...and don’t know how to represent all of what I do and have accomplished in a resume”. Add to that worries about how long should it be, how far back should it go, is it too dense or too light? It’s difficult to know where to begin.
Resume formats are structured for a reason, but we can make that structure work for you. It is important to represent both the what and how in your work history - what you are responsible for, what you accomplished, and how you achieved it.
In my resume writing approach, we start with story. Tell me the story of your work life. Tell me what matters to you, what you’re proud of, what gives you energy, where and how you’ve grown over time. I pull those threads together into a structure. Then we partner to refine, edit, format, and customize as you leverage this resume foundation in your job search.
Where a resume is static, your LinkedIn profile is dynamic. Many people use LinkedIn as an online resume, but when you engage it actively it can fill in the blanks on personality, style, values, and voice. Building this part uniquely but in compliment to the more traditional resume is another way to feel empowered and make career personal.
